Philips is adding more Net TV apps to its connected smart TV sets. New services from Spain and Turkey are now available.

Philips has added a number of new apps to its Net TV smart TV sets, including broadcasters from Russia, Turkey, Germany and Scandinavia.

Following a recent firmware update, all Philips smart TVs now have access to adult VOD services, except for viewers in Germany and Turkey.

Philips has updated its Smart TV infrastructure and introduced a new user interface. “We expect a strong increase in the usage of Smart TV”, said Pieter Vervoort, VP and head of product strategy and Smart TV at Philips.
Pathe Thuis (Pathe at Home), the new Dutch video on demand service from Pathe cinemas, is set to launch on Philips and other smart TVs during the next few months.

Dutch public broadcaster NOS has released some figures on viewing of their on-demand programming on connected devices from Philips, Sharp, Samsung and Sony. Few figures have until now been available.

There are 1 million Philips Net TV owners that use their connected TV set three or four times a month, according to Pieter Vervoort, VP Philips Net TV. Speaking at the Telecompaper Connected TV conference in Utrecht, he also told that the company will issue an SDK before the end of the year.
