ARD and ZDF defend Facebook presence

German public broadcasters ARD and ZDF see Facebook as an important information and communication platform and reject the demand by cable operator association FRK to leave the social media network in view of the latest data scandal and the unclear exploitation of user data.

Germany’s FRK wants OTT players to pay for carriage

German cable operator association FRK wants streaming providers such as Netflix, Amazon, Apple, Google, Facebook und YouTube to participate in the costs of upgrading their networks for the gigabit future through a carriage fee, arguing that business models based on the idea of free data highways must come to an end.

FRK files suit against Liberty Global’s German cable deal

Small German cablers keep public channels
