Free is the first platform in France to sign a distribution agreement to carry the new Al Jazeera sports channels in France, Be In Sport 1 and 2. The new broadcaster will start its pprogramming on June 1.

In Brief: Belgacom, Lite TV, Ziggo

Belgacom has acquired the rights to the UEFA Champions League games. Until now, the competition was broadcast by cablers Telenet (Flanders) and BeTV (Walloon). In addition, free-to-air broadcaster 2Be will broadcast one game per day under the new arrangement.

Super RTL will launch its HD version in Germany on the HD+ platform on May 1, after the analogue shutdown of all German channels on satellite. Super RTL is a 50/50 JV between the RTL Group and Disney.
