In Brief: High TV 3D, Philips, Sundance, RTL Nitro, UKTV

March 29, 2012 07.56 Europe/London By Robert Briel

High TV 3D is now debuting in Germany thanks to a carriage contract with Liberty Global’s Unitymedia in Cologne.

Miramax and UKTV have announced a licensing agreement that will see many of the studio’s hit films appearing on UKTV’s basic pay and DTT channels.

The Dutch VOD service Pathé Thuis is now also available on Philips smart TVs; the service debuted last December on Samsung smart TVs. Movies start at €5 for a 48 hours rental period.

Dutch cabler CAIWay has stopped distribution of the stand-alone version of the Sundance Channel. The channel is now available as Film1 Sundance Channel, as part of the joint venture with Chellomedia.

Netcologne is the first German cable operator to carry the new RTL Nitro channel from April 1. The German association of small cable operators FRK has also signed a basic agreement with RTL about carriage of the channel.
