Zdenko Rysavy

Zdenko Rysavy is currently the Chief Technology Officer of Markíza Group, which is part of Central European Media Enterprises (CME).

Between 2010-2012 he led the sports channel Digi Sport in Slovakia and in the Czech Republic, when its former owner, the telco company RCS & RDS at that time operated the Digi DTH platform in Romania, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Since 2013, he has worked for Markíza Group, where he completed the transition to HD programme production and broadcasting within two years. He actively participates in the search for synergies in CME markets and the exchange of experience.

Zdenko is responsible for broadcasting as well as non-broadcasting technology, its selection, purchase, and implementation. He also manages the tangible assets of the company, ensures the operation of the whole television centre and the service of selected technical equipment including IP broadcasting and mobile TV technology. He in addition leads negotiations with TV operators regarding carriage fees.

The biggest projects of the centre of technology have been for the last two years the purchase, construction and operation of a completely new studio for news and current affairs programmes, and also commissioning of the new HD OB Van, which marked the completion of the transition to HD. It is also a great tool for disaster recovery and can be used for double productions.

Among the most important things Zdenko is currently engaged in are disaster recovery, IT security and the elimination of single points of failure.

He and his team are currently also focusing also on data mining – indexing of video archive via new technologies (face recognition, speech to text, etc.) and related data analyses, or anti-piracy measures in connection with the illegal transmission and reception of the TV signal. In addition, they also work on geo redundancy, which will replicate all the important data and store this backup data in a separate physical location just in case one site fails.

CME is a media and entertainment company operating leading businesses in six Central and Eastern European markets with an aggregate population of approximately 50 million people. Markíza Group belongs to CME Media Group and represents CME in Slovakia, it operates four television channels TV Markíza, Markíza International, Doma and Dajto, a wide portfolio of online services, including the VOD service VOYO and several mobile applications.
