Aaproximately 9% of Western European broadband households own at least one smart home device and 57% own at least one internet-connected CE device, according to Parks Associates.
Parks Associates announced results for its consumer research project Connected Consumer in Europe, which surveyed broadband households in the UK, Germany, Spain, and France to track adoption and future purchase plans of IoT, smart home, and connected entertainment solutions.
“Service providers and OEMs continue to introduce new offerings in Europe, bringing new value propositions and driving increased adoption and future purchase intentions of smart home and connected CE devices,” said Stuart Sikes, president, Parks Associates.
“Currently 45% of broadband households in the UK, Germany, Spain, and France have a smart TV. Regarding future purchases, 33% of these broadband households plan to purchase a smart home device in the next 12 months.”
Additional research on European broadband households shows that nearly 10% in the UK, Germany, Spain, and France have a home control system. Pay-TV adoption is 50% in Spain, 87% in Germany, 74% in the UK, and 75% in France; and 33% of UK broadband households used the iPlayer online video service in the past 30 days.
