Quest launches On Demand player

July 25, 2018 07.43 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Discovery is launching QuestOD, a catch-up and live streaming service for its free-to-air factual entertainment brands Quest and Quest Red in the UK.

To coincide with the start of the new EFL football season, Quest content will launch in HD. Offering live streaming and catch-up for Quest and Quest Red, this is the first time Quest’s sister channel Quest Red will be available on-demand. The player features a brand-new design and user interface, while a QuestOD app is available as a smart phone and tablet app for iOS and Android.

Earlier this year, Quest announced it had secured the rights to the EFL Highlights in a four-year deal. Kicking off with the 2018 season, all EFL Highlights shows will be available live in HD and catch-up on QuestOD, including match highlights hosted by Colin Murray every Saturday night, highlights shows capturing the action from mid-week fixtures and highlights from the Carabao Cup and final of the Checkatrade Trophy.

“Quest continues to go from strength-to-strength with a record-breaking Q1 this year and Quest Red is the fastest growing free-to-air entertainment channel since its launch last year,” said James Gibbons EVP, General Manager of UK/Ireland, Australia & New Zealand and Head of Commercial Development for EMEA, Discovery.

“There is a huge appetite for the Quest channels’ content, and we’re delighted to be investing in an on demand service that makes this content available to fans across all platforms. This new player gives fans the freedom to access their favourite content across multiple devices, and what better occasion to go live than with the launch of the EFL Highlights.”

Quest’s linear channel will be launching in HD on Sky, Virgin, and Freesat on July 31; all other customers can access the channel in HD via the QuestOD player and app.
