New data from Synergy Research Group shows that Cisco has maintained its leadership in two of the three main video infrastructure software categories.
Cisco leads Nagra and Arris in conditional access, and has a strong lead over Ericsson and Arris in middleware. In the “other software” category (where the largest sub-segments are EPG, content management systems, advanced advertising and DVR software), Cisco ranks third but lags far behind both Rovi and TiVo. Across all video infrastructure software Cisco leads with a Q4 market share of 18%, followed by Rovi (12%), Arris (9%) and Nagra (8%).
Total video infrastructure software revenues are now running at well over $1.3 billion per quarter, with several sub-segments growing by a CAGR well in excess of 10% over the last three years.
“The video infrastructure market is increasingly moving towards cloud-oriented architectures and we expect this to provide a boost to software revenues over the coming years” said John Dinsdale, a chief analyst and research director at Synergy Research Group.
“There has also been a lot of vendor consolidation and we expect to see that continue as companies strive towards offering their customers more comprehensive solutions.”
