Italy’s Telespazio has renewed leases on two satellites operated by Eutelsat Communications for professional video contribution services and the outside broadcast purposes of RAI, the country’s national public broadcaster.
The Italian public broadcaster Rai has signed a capacity agreement with SES Astra for the carriage of its new international channel Yes Italia from 19 degrees East.

Next spring, the development of digital terrestrial broadcasting in Italy will enter a new phase, with at least 12 new channels taking to the airwaves. It will be the result of a decision by the Italian communication authority AGCOM requiring three main DTT licence holders to rent out 40% of their capacity to third parties.
