Media Broadcast chooses Irdeto for DVB-T2 encryption

ARD and ZDF reject encryption on satellite

German public broadcasters ARD and ZDF have stressed that they will continue to transmit their TV channels unencrypted via satellite despite pressure from rights holders.

German commercial channels to encrypt on DVB-T2

For the DVB-T2 platform to be rolled out from 2016, Germany’s commercial broadcasters aim for a uniform, mainly encrypted offering marketed nationwide while the public broadcasters will stay free-to-air.
