German transmitter network operator Media Broadcast has selected a software-based encryption system from Irdeto to secure its hybrid DVB-T2/HEVC platform.
The Irdeto solution will allow Media Broadcast to manage content security services and subscriber management services for the DVB-T2 broadcast network including multiscreen capability as well as associated OTT offerings such as additional channel packages streamed to the TV set through the internet.
The Irdeto integrated management system chosen by Media Broadcast will cover multiple DRMs and simplify content distribution and access across HEVC set-top-box platforms, CI+ CAMs, mobile devices and OTT services, according to Irdeto.
Rollout of the DVB-T2 platform will commence with trials in urban areas in mid-2016. The commercial service is scheduled to launch in Q1 2017.
