Proximus customers will shortly receive a brand new TV box that combines integrated WiFi 6 technology with an energy consumption between 20 and 40% less than its predecessor.
The Belgian operator says the new box is more compact and more efficient thanks to more powerful hardware. It features 3 GB RAM, the latest chip technology and a new version of the Android operating system result in smoother switching between applications and generally a more pleasant user experience.
The device is also made from recycled plastic and is about 40% smaller than its predecessors, which also means it contains less plastic, makes transport more efficient and environmentally friendly, and reduces energy consumption.
Initially, the new box will be rolled out to new customers, though in time Proximus intends to swapout existing customers’ devices to the new unit.
A number of new features are being brought in. For example, if you start watching a recorded programme at home, you can resume it later somewhere else on your mobile phone or tablet. In the future, customers will also be able to create a profile for each viewer for a more personalized experience.
