Popular old Western films and series have begun to disappear from the libraries of Russian OTT services.
Kommersant reports that they include Friends, 1+1, Interstellar, Lord of the Rings and Mask, which are no longer offered by Yandex-owned Kinopoisk, the market leader.
It adds that this is due to delays and other difficulties in securing contract extensions.
Broadband TV News notes that leading studios stopped selling licences to Russian companies following the country’s invasion of Ukraine on February 24. Old content had until now not been affected.
As previously reported by Broadband TV News, growth Russia’s OTT market has significantly slowed this year in revenue terms.
The number of subscribers to OTT services had also fallen.
