Disney+ not available on Sky Q in Germany until April 2021

March 22, 2020 22.08 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

German pay-TV broadcaster Sky Deutschland will only be able to offer Disney+ as an app on its Sky Q platform from April 2021.

This was confirmed by a Sky Deutschland spokesperson to German web portal Quotenmeter.de. Priority will first be given to Deutsche Telekom, which has agreed an exclusive partnership with the streaming service launching in Germany on March 24, 2020.

Meanwhile, Sky Deutschland and Walt Disney have renewed their long-standing cooperation, according to the Sky spokesperson. The multi-year agreement includes the continued distribution of linear TV channels Fox, National Geographic and Nat Geo Wild.

The on-demand service Nat Geo Now, which offers hundreds of documentaries from areas such as culture, animals and travel, is to be added in April 2020.

Disney Junior, on the other hand, will only be part of the Sky platform until March 31, 2020. According to the Sky spokesman, the children’s channel is to be replaced by a “top-class” channel, details will be available shortly.

Sky customers can also continue to buy or rent new Disney movies at the Sky Store.
