HbbTV Symposium and Awards 2018 in Berlin

July 9, 2018 09.13 Europe/London By Robert Briel

The 7th HbbTV Symposium and Awards will take place on November 14-15, 2018, at ESMT Berlin.

This was announced today by the HbbTV Association.

The annual key event of the connected TV world targeting platform operators, broadcasters, advertisers, standards organisations and technology companies will be carried out in conjunction with German industry association Deutsche TV-Plattform and focus on Growing Value Through HbbTV.

“The broadcast and broadband worlds are increasingly converging through the rising popularity of OTT, video-on-demand and multiscreen services. At the same time, public and commercial broadcasters in several European countries are joining forces to create joint OTT platforms so that they can remain fully relevant in this new world,” said Vincent Grivet (TDF), CChair of the HbbTV Association.

“As HbbTV is the natural technology platform for them to do so, the HbbTV Symposium and Awards 2018 in Berlin will provide the ideal opportunity to update on the current developments and the solutions HbbTV offers for quick market introduction as an open standard for a renovated TV experience.”

The speeches and presentations will include reviews of HbbTV deployments in new and existing markets, improving viewer experiences on broadcast, OTT and multiscreen platforms, advanced rights management and content protection solutions, targeted advertising and other monetisation opportunities and the prospects of Ultra HD, HDR, next-generation audio, virtual reality and augmented reality for broadcasters, platform operators and consumers.

Industry executives interested in presenting and discussing their case studies, experiences and views at the HbbTV Symposium and Awards 2018 are invited to submit their proposals by participating in the Call for Speakers.

Following last year’s event in Rome, which gathered the most important decision makers in the connected TV industry with more than 270 international industry executives representing 129 companies from 23 countries, 40 speakers and 18 sponsors, the HbbTV Symposium and Awards 2018 in Berlin will host the second edition of the HbbTV Awards featuring a wide range of categories designed to acclaim best practice and excellence in the HbbTV community.
