The Russian advertising market was worth R417 billion (€5.88 billion) in 2017, or 14% more than a year earlier.
According to Kommersant, quoting the Association of Communication Agencies of Russia (AKAR), TV remained the leading medium, accounting for R170.9 billion (+13%), with the internet claiming R166.3 billion (+22%).
Interestingly, internet spend exceeded TV spend by almost R5 billion in the third quarter, only for TV to bounce back in Q4.
TV and internet accounted for over 80% of total ad budgets in 2017, which was much higher than the global average of 70-72%.
What is more, the internet is now predicted to overtake TV this year.
