German telco Deutsche Telekom will offer Ultra HD content on its IPTV platform Entertain TV from October 2017.
This was confirmed by a Telekom spokesman to Broadband TV News. For reception, a subscription to at least the tariff Magenta Zuhause L and a new, 4K-capable IPTV receiver becoming available at the same time will be required, he added.
“The launch will take place this month. We will announce the exact date separately,” said the spokesman.
Deutsche Telekom announced the Ultra HD service on Entertain TV at IFA Berlin 2017. Besides video-on-demand content from Sky Deutschland, Netflix, Videoload and YouTube, linear TV channel Insight TV will also be offered in ultra-high resolution along with matches from Germany’s national ice-hockey league DEL.
