The opening game of the Bundesliga season 2016/17 was broadcast live in virtual reality (VR) by Fox, but not in Germany.
Is this a general sign that the German market is not yet ready for VR? This is not case, according to Veed Analytics. In its new Snapshot, the German consultancy has analysed the state of VR in the Germany video industry, identifying broad activities, particularly from broadcast groups.
Almost half (44%) of German video services have started VR efforts, according to the study, with documentaries and sports being the main genres. More than 97% of available VR content is shorter than 10 minutes.
