Internet and telephony remained the main growth drivers for Swiss cable operators in Q3 2015 while the number of TV customers continued to decline.
The number of internet customers rose in the past 12 months by 68,700 to 1.21 million while the number of telephony customers increased by 53,000 to 713,700, reports cable operator association Suissedigital.
35,000 customers have signed up for a mobile phone tariff from their cable operator.
The number of classic cable TV subscribers dropped by 117,800 to 2.56 million – a result of the strong competition with IPTV operators.
The cable companies’ main rival Swisscom gained 150,000 new customers for its IPTV platform Swisscom TV in the past 12 months which now has a total of 1.27 million customers.
The Swiss telco increased its number of fixed-line broadband customers by 65,000 to 1.94 million.
