IBC 2008 – AMSTERDAM. Irish telecommunications provider Magnet networks has adopted Inuk Networks’ Igloo virtual set-top box technology to provide customers with a broadband TV service to PCs or Macs.
Launched yesterday (September 9), the range of free channels will be extended to include pay-TV channels and video on demand.
Magnet has access to 39 unbundled ADSL exchanges and is the largest fibre network in Ireland. It offers customers speds of up to 50 Mbps, the fastest in the country.
Launched at IBC 2007, Igloo is already used by 50,000 subscribers on Inuk’s own networks in the UK, Ireland and Canada.
