Peter Lepper, Founder and Managing Director of German electronics company TechniSat, has passed away at the age of 77.
Lepper founded his first company, TPS-Technitube Pipe & Steel GmbH, over 48 years ago and developed it into a group of 19 companies, which he bundled into Techniropa Holding GmbH in 2008. Today, these companies employ 1,350 people worldwide.
TechniSat, Lepper’s most famous enterprise, became known for its wide range of DTH satellite reception equipment, followed later by DAB+ digital radio receivers, car radios and other audiovisual hardware.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of our founder Peter Lepper, an outstanding entrepreneurial personality. As a pioneer and source of inspiration for everyone in our group of companies, he has left a lasting mark. The further development of his group of companies is both an obligation and an honour for us,” said Stefan Kön, Managing Director of Techniropa Holding.
Lepper was honoured with the Order of Merit of the Free State of Thuringia in 2003. This was followed in 2007 by the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon. Lepper has been an honorary citizen of the town of Daun, the headquarters of Techniropa Holding, since 2018.
