Zattoo launches TV package for cable customers

November 30, 2023 18.13 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

Streaming provider Zattoo is launching a TV package aimed specifically at tenants in Germany whose cable TV fees are currently collected via the service charge bill.

This billing option ends by law on June 30, 2024, enabling tenants to freely choose their TV provider.

The new Zattoo Smart HD package offers 174 TV channels, 161 of which are in HD, with restart and live pause function for €6.49 per month. The line-up includes all major public and commercial channels as well as thematic channels. The offer can be tested free of charge for 30 days. The subscription can be cancelled monthly.

Access is via Smart TV using the Zattoo app, which is available for devices from Samsung, LG, Panasonic, Hisense and Loewe as well as TV brands based on Android TV or Google TV such as Sony, Philips, Grundig and TCL. Streaming players can also be used, for example Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV stick and Google Chromecast.

The price charged by Zattoo is lower than the usual cable TV fees, but unlike traditional cable TV, which can be used on any number of TV sets in the household at the same time, it only allows streaming on one TV set. Mobile use is also not possible.

“We see great demand among cable TV households for a simple and affordable TV offering with high picture quality. With Zattoo Smart HD, we do just that,” said Constanze Gilles, Head of Direct-to-Consumer Business at Zattoo. “In exchange for mobile television and the possibility of parallel use, we offer a particularly low price and a larger selection of channels in HD. For those who want to change quickly and easily, Zattoo is thus the right choice.”
