Katharina Frömsdorf new CEO of Joyn

October 19, 2023 11.38 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

New Management Team for Joyn: CEO Katharina Frömsdorf, Benjamin Risom, Nicole Agudo Berbel (f.l.t.r.)

Katharina Frömsdorf will become CEO of Seven. One Entertainment Group’s streaming platform Joyn as of November 1, 2023 as part of a strategic realignment of the German media company.

Alongside Frömsdorf, Nicole Agudo Berbel and Benjamin Risom also join the Joyn management team.

“As Managing Director of Seven. One AdFactory, Studio71, Buzzbird, MMP and as the person responsible for Seven. One Audio, Katharina Frömsdorf stands for strengthening synergies between divisions, successfully developing companies and, above all, creating a large whole from several divisions. This is exactly what we need for the full integration of Joyn into the Seven. One Entertainment Group,” said Bert Habets, CEO of parent company ProSiebenSat.1 Media.

“Benjamin Risom has been instrumental in the technical development of the platform as CPO of Seven. One Entertainment Group and in his previous roles at Joyn. Nicole Agudo Berbel, in her role as Chief Distribution Officer, will now additionally focus on strengthening Joyn’s distribution through partner agreements. With the appointment of these three to the Joyn management team, we will be able to even better combine our streaming platform with the power and advantages of our company. This is the right way to grow Joyn.”

Frömsdorf added: “Joyn has all the ingredients to become the leading ad-supported streaming service in the German-speaking region. I look forward to working with the great Joyn team and the combined power of Seven. One Entertainment Group to take our streaming platform to the next level.”

Frömsdorf will also take on the role of Chief Platforms & Growth Officer of Seven. One Entertainment Group.

Tassilo Raesig, CEO of Joyn, and René Sahm, CFO and COO of Joyn, are leaving the company by mutual agreement due to differing views on the future direction of the platform, according to Seven. One Entertainment Group.

“I would like to thank Tassilo Raesig and René Sahm for their great commitment in building and expanding Joyn as a platform in Germany over the past years, without which the successful launch of Joyn in Austria would not have been possible. Now we have to integrate Joyn even more strongly into our company and position it in the market as the streaming service for the whole family,” said Habets.

Raesig and Sahm commented: “We are proud to have built and shaped Joyn as an independent company over the last few years and to have developed Joyn into one of the leading streaming platforms in the German-speaking region together with our great and talented team. With the full and deep integration of Joyn into the ProSiebenSat.1 Group, a new chapter now begins. We wish the new management and their teams every success and all the best for the future.”

As part of the strategic realignment, ProSiebenSat.1 CEO Bert Habets will assume the additional role as CEO of Seven. One Entertainment Group. Henrik Pabst, Chief Content Officer, is now responsible for all content across all channels and platforms while Stefan Endriß remains CFO. Daniel Rosemann, Channel Manager of ProSieben and Sat.1, will leave the company at the end of 2023 to work on new projects. Marc Rasmus becomes Sat.1 Channel Manager and Hannes Hiller becomes ProSieben Channel Manager.
