Bulgaria’s three leading telcos A1 Bulgaria, Vivacom and Yettel all saw their revenues grow in the first half of this year.
Furthermore, according to Capital, Vivacom overtook Bulsatcom to become the leading pay-TV operator in subscriber number terms.
A1 Bulgaria had revenues of €348 million in H1, up 20.6% on a year earlier, while its EBITDA was up 20.7% to €148 million.
Like other telcos, A1 benefited from what are known “value protection pricing measures”, which allow for the indexing of pricing plans to annual inflation. It had 1.2 million fixed subscribers, compared to 1.15 million a year earlier, and ARPU for its services, which also include mobile, amounted to €7.4 (€6.9 in H1 2022).
Meanwhile, United Group’s Vivacom had revenues of €308.4 million (+9%) in the first half of this year, with its EBITDA €149 million (+18%). Yettel, on the other hand, had revenues of €243 million (+12.5%) and its EBITDA was down 16.1% to €73 million.
Yettel nevertheless maintained its lead in ARPU, with the H1 figure of €11.6 being up from €10.4 a year earlier.
