Vodafone Spain unveils Android TV decoder

September 29, 2023 12.40 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Vodafone has launched its first Android TV-based decoder in Spain.

With an ultra-small size and weight (20% less than its previous version), the device offers 50% more processing and memory speed, providing a faster and smoother response. In addition, it has 4K and HDR (next generation video quality).

The device will become the standard Vodafone TV decoder and will be progressively made available to new Vodafone TV customers from the second half of October. It will be used on all networks in which Vodafone TV 4K is currently used and will not incur any cost for convergent customers on the One Unlimited Max, One Unlimited Duo Series/Family or Hogar Unlimitable rates.

The new decoder has all the key functions of Vodafone TV: 7-day catch-up, recordings in the cloud, watching from the beginning, live control being able to go back up to 4 hours, content on demand, search engine, personalised recommendations and voice control, among others. Likewise, it has all the integrated applications offered by Vodafone (HBO Max, Disney+, Prime Video, Filmin, Atresplayer Premium, Eurosport) installed as standard and allows the download of thousands of applications from the Google Play Store. In addition, the remote control incorporates direct access buttons to HBO Max, Disney+ and Prime Video.

Commenting on the new device, Jesús José Rodríguez, director of Vodafone TV in Spain, said: “this new decoder takes a leap in terms of functionalities for Vodafone TV users, who for the first time will have the Google Voice Assistant at their disposal from their televisions. Through our television service we aggregate, editorialise and recommend the largest number of contents on the market, and we also offer the most complete and highest quality television experience on the market”.
