Subscribers to BT Sport can now receive a subscription to Discovery+ at no extra cost.
It follows the September 2022 tie-up between Warner Bros. Discovery and BT Group that brings together Eurosport UK with BT Sport.
At the time management of the new JV said that while the brands will initially remain separate, over time they will merge as part of an overall entertainment offer that will include Discovery+.
The first stage of this is underway with customers to BT Sport, or those who receive the channels as part of BT’s sweetheart deals with EE and Plusnet, who are able to link their accounts to a free Discovery+ subscription.
It means a subscriber to EE, who also has a Sky subscription, can get Discovery+ free of charge through their Sky box. BT TV’s own service doesn’t yet have Discovery+ available, so interested subscribers will have to make other arrangements, such as using the Discovery+ app on their smart TV or an Amazon Fire stick, or iOS or Amazon device.
BT Sport and Eurosport UK are retaining their current branding for the time being, though they will be brought together in the future.
A monthly subscription to Discovery+ costs £3.99; £6.99 for the combined Discovery+/Eurosport option. BT Sport costs £10 per month when added through a mobile subscription, though this can vary.
