The Russian parliament (Duma) has proposed replacing the distribution of Western films in the country with titles from China, India, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
According to Current Time, Elena Drapeko, the first deputy of the State Duna on Culture, now plans to discuss the proposal with the Ministry of Culture.
Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, leading studios such as Sony, Walt Disney Company, Paramount and Warner Bros. stopped operating in Russia, cancelled premieres and suspended the delivery of films to Russian cinemas.
