RTL and ntv have launched a daily news bulletin in the Ukrainian language.
The ten-minute Ukraine Update will be available Mondays to Fridays on RTL.news, ntv.de and on YouTube. It will be presented by established Ukrainian TV journalist Karolina Ashion and cover the most important topics in the Ukraine conflict as well as the everyday life of refugees in Germany.
46-year-old Ashion is a renowned TV journalist from Kiev and has been working as a journalist and presenter in Ukrainian television for more than 20 years. She fled to Germany at the beginning of the war.
“Since the beginning of the war, we have been providing our viewers and users with a high-quality news offer,” Stephan Schmitter, Managing Director RTL News said. “The situation of the people in Ukraine and the refugees in Germany is depressing ¬ with the Ukraine Update we want to give them an assured news overview. We will also strengthen our team with more colleagues from Ukraine, to whom we can hopefully give a bit of normality and security here with us.”
Ashion added: “I feel this project is a privilege. I want to make a contribution so that people who are seeking protection here in Germany can find out what is happening in our home country.”
