German broadcaster RTL Deutschland is expanding its pay-TV channel GEO Television with a subscription-based video-on-demand service (SVOD).
GEO WILD, offering documentaries on nature and wildlife, is initially distributed exclusively on Vodafone Deutschland’s cable network. Further platforms will be added later, including RTL streaming service TVNow (from November 3 RTL+).
The precondition for accessing GEO WILD content is a receiver with VOD functionality. This includes all GigaTV boxes and the Horizon cable receiver. A TV package that provides access to HD channels is also necessary.
GEO WILD is not to be confused with National Geographic’s pay-TV channel NatGeo WILD, which also shows documentaries from the animal world.
