US streaming pioneer Roku wants to launch its streaming devices in Germany this year.
Roku’s TV sticks and boxes bring streaming services to the TV set. For the German launch, Roku concluded agreements with international and national content providers, including RTL Deutschland, ProSiebenSat.1 and Sky Deutschland.
German Roku users will be able to use apps such as Sky Ticket, TVNow (RTL+), Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Disney+.
Roku launched its first streaming player in 2008, enabling viewers to access Netflix on TV sets. The company developed its own TV operating system for streaming devices and smart TVs. Its products are currently available in more than 20 countries around the world.
Roku plans to announce details on its device models and prices in Germany in the coming weeks.
