New viewing landmark for Atmedia

April 7, 2021 09.24 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

The Czech Republic’s Atmedia is now achieving a 5% audience share each month for its thematic channels.

As a result, it has moved up among commercial stations to be just behind Nova and Prima.

In a statement, the company says that it exceeded the 5% threshold for the first time in July and August 2020 and has been doing so regularly since the beginning of this month. In Q1, it reached 5.2% in the 15-69 age group and was 16% up the same period last year.

According to Michaela Vasilova, Atmedia’s MD, “the increase in the share of viewership is mainly due to the increase in interest in thematic TV channels and also the expansion of our portfolio. Since the beginning of this year, we have been selling advertising space on 28 thematic TV channels, of which 23 are involved in the official measurement of viewership”.

Seznam.cz TV, Skylink 7 and Canal+ Domo have been added to the Atmedia’s official measurement since the beginning of 2021. All told, its thematic channels reach an average of 6 million viewers per month.

Vasilova added: “We are seeing increased audience interest, especially in film, series and documentary channels. In connection with the return of interesting sporting events to the screens, there is also a growing interest in sports channels”.
