German broadcaster Sport1 will continue to distribute its service in SD and HD resolution via the Astra satellite system (19.2° East).
The free-TV channel extended its partnership with satellite operator Astra Deutschland on a long-term basis. SD broadcasting is unencrypted, the HD version of Sport1 is part of Astra’s encrypted subscription platform HD+.
“With the successful contract extension with Astra Deutschland, we are ensuring that our DTH satellite viewers can continue to enjoy the full range of top-class sports with a great variety of live highlights, talk shows and reports,” said Andreas Gerhardt, director distribution and regulation at Sport1.
