Prima unveils new apps

June 30, 2020 10.38 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

The Czech national commercial broadcaster Prima has launched two new mobile and HbbTV applications.

Users can download the iPrima mobile app for free in the App Store or in Google Play. In it, they will find an archive of their favourite series from all channels of the Prima group. Meanwhile, the upgraded HbbTV iPrima app is clearly divided into several items including Search, Shows and Series and Video Rental.

As on the web, users can watch iPrima programmes without ads after registering and paying a subscription of CZK59 (€2.2) per month.

Commenting on the launches, Josef Stransky, CTO of the Prima Group, said: “We are constantly improving and developing our online services for viewers so that they can watch their favourite shows anytime, anywhere. We have a mobile application available for users with both the Android operating system and Apple iOS. I believe that with both innovations, users will appreciate the simple and clear design and intuitive operation, which will easily allow them to search for their favourite programmes”.

According to Prima, with 53,525,109 video plays per month on the iPrima.cz website, the Prima Group is one of the most successful on the Czech market, and with a monthly traffic of 3,986,207 real users, it is one of the most visited TV websites.

Meanwhile, the CNNPrima.cz website reached over 1.1 million real users after less than a month of operation. The red Prima button is currently seen by more than two million viewers. Consumption of videos via the HbbTV platform is growing, and in May the year-on-year increase in viewership was 77%.
