The number of subscribers to NENT’s streaming service Viaplay has increased by 310,000 over the last 12 months.
The Nordic company, which added 110,000 new Viaplay customers in the last quarter alone, said Viaplay now represents 62% of the Group’s total subscriber base.
“Scaling Viaplay remains our top priority simply because it’s the best way to drive sustainable long-term value. We have continued to innovate and transform, and remain well positioned to benefit from the shift to on-demand and online video consumption,” said President and CEO Anders Jensen.
NENT reported a loss of SEK 217 million on the back of SEK 731 million in redundancy costs and impairment charges, and SEK 11 million of advisory costs as a result of the merger of between Viasat Consumer and Canal Digital.
Viaplay plans to launch in Iceland in the spring.
