From April, Vodafone Hungary will discontinue the UPC brand and then sell its mobile and fixed line services exclusively under its own brand, HWSW wrote.
Following the acquisition of the Hungarian subsidy of UPC, Vodafone Magyarország Zrt. will provide the company’s mobile and landline services under its own name as of April 2020.
All fixed-line services (phone, internet and digital cable TV) offered by UPC will remain available in current UPC service areas, but will run under the Vodafone brand.
The European Commission approved in July Vodafone Group’s acquisition of Liberty Global’s German, Czech, Romanian and Hungarian subsidiaries, including UPC Hungary, for €18.4 billion.
The company was present in the Hungarian, Romanian and Czech markets under the UPC brand name, while in Germany it used the Unitymedia brand. The transaction closed on August 1, and the two service providers will continue to operate as a group of companies, but as a separate company.
