A+E Networks promotes Saugato Banerjee to Managing Director, North Asia

July 22, 2019 11.58 Europe/London By Broadband TV News Correspondent

A+E Networks has named Saugato Banerjee as its new managing director, North Asia.

The move will effectively consolidate operations across the entire Asia region under the control of a single executive.

In the role, Banerjee will be responsible for Southeast Asia, North Asia (Korea, China, Japan), Taiwan, Hong Kong, and India, where he will chart the continued growth and expansion of A+E Networks throughout the region.

“Saugato is a skilled executive with well-established relationships and strategic vision for this growing region,” said Patrick Vien, Group Managing Director, International, A+E Networks. “We applaud his launch of our brands in Korea across linear and digital, spearheading key production partnerships and successful stewardship of our Japanese business as we look forward to even greater success in his new, expanded role.”

“A+E Networks’ strong foothold in this corner of the world is testament to the innovation and demonstrated success of our globally recognized, locally adaptable brands and strong teams. I look forward to taking on this expanded role and partnering with our undoubtedly talented team across the region in attracting new audiences and growing our business” said Banerjee.

Through his tenure Banerjee has been integral to the growth of A+E Networks across Asia. He played a key role in the rapid expansion of the SEA business and oversaw the Digital, Operations and Research functions in the region. He also carried out responsibilities as a caretaker GM of AETN 18 in India during a crucial period of change.

Prior to his assignment at A+E Networks, Banerjee held various roles in media and advertising in his previous jobs at ESPN STAR Sports, CNBC Asia Pacific, Contract Advertising and FCB India. He is an Economics graduate with a post graduate diploma in Marketing Communications.
