ProSiebenSat.1 teams up with Facebook

June 12, 2019 12.22 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

Facebook will offer its users a wide-ranging catalogue of videos from German media group ProSiebenSat.1 on its video platform Facebook Watch.

Through the agreement concluded with the social media network, ProSiebenSat.1 wants to increase its digital reach and generate additional revenues in the content and production business.

The content includes clips and short episodes of popular shows such as Germany’s Next Top Model – by Heidi Klum, Galileo (pictured), Late Night Berlin and Sat.1-Frühstücksfernsehen. The cooperation will start around the new show The Masked Singer, which premieres on June 27, 2019 on ProSieben.

Facebook Watch is Facebook’s new core video platform. More than 720 million people per month and 140 million people per day spend at least one minute on Watch. Average use is 26 minutes.

ProSiebenSat.1’s video content on Facebook is curated by its subsidiary Studio71. In addition to existing material, ProSiebenSat.1 will produce exclusive clips for Facebook Watch, giving viewers access to behind-the-scene footage of shows. ProSiebenSat.1 will also produce special content such as posts, stories and live streams via its TV channels and digital unit Studio71 that will be simultaneously posted to both Facebook and Instagram.

ProSiebenSat.1 is the first TV group in Europe to enter into a partnership of this kind with Facebook. In the United States, the American department of Studio71 already cooperates with Facebook Watch and shows its production Fetch Me A Date with Jonathan Bennett and Dorothy Wang on the video platform. Similar productions with Studio71’s German creators are also scheduled for Germany.

White Paper – Smart Router: The Gateway to Next-Gen Services

Predicting the future may be folly but preparing for it is vital.
