The Ukrainian regulator National Council has asked Google to prevent the blocking of its satellite TV channel ATR T (TK-Atlant-SV) on YouTube.
In a statement, it says that the reason for its appeal is a claim by the Russian regulator Roskomnadzor that the channel violates Russian legislation on information, information technology and information protection.
The National Council adds that in its letter to Google it emphasises that broadcasting of Ukrainian media is under the jurisdiction of the Ukrainian state and the only regulator entitled to contact third parties is itself.
It also points to previous attempts by Roskomnadzor to influence the content of Ukrainian TV channels hosted on YouTube and accuses Russia of using Google and its subsidairy YouTube to conduct a ‘hybrid war’ against Ukraine.
The National Council concludes by saying it is ready to cooperate and discuss the situation regarding the broadcasting of Ukrainian TV channels on YouTube.
