Sky Deutschland has chosen French video quality monitoring solutions provider Witbe to automate the analysis and testing of the German pay-TV broadcaster’s set-top-boxes.
Witbe’s monitoring robots, acting as real end-users, and video algorithm which equals how the human eye perceives the quality of a video will continuously analyse the video quality of the set-top-boxes during the software development phases, including Sky’s latest Ultra HD/4K streaming services, ensuring the best video quality experience for subscribers.
Video quality disruptions will be detected before the deployment of any changes, speeding up the analysis and diagnostics of sporadic field issues, according to Witbe.
With the monitoring solution, Sky wants to avoid changes in the encoding backend or in the set-top-box software leading to sporadic macro blocking or artefacts in the streamed videos.
