The most recent conference organised by the Lithuanian Cable Television Association (LKTA) focused on issues related to the illegal distribution of content.
In a statement, the association says that prior to the event, which took place at the end of May, it signed a long-term agreement with the collective administrations for the period 2018-2026.
Under it, cable TV operators were granted the exclusive right to use all works of Lithuanian and foreign authors in Lithuania and objects of related rights in the provision of retransmission services.
Commenting on the agreement, Vaiva Zukiene, president of the LKTA, said that the obligation for distributors to sign licence agreements with the collective administration associations over the next nine years will see rights holders fairly compensated for the fruits of their creations.
“Such clear and non-discriminatory conditions, as well as the active fight against illegal retransmission services by copyright agencies, will create a level playing field for all operators operating on the pay-TV market in Lithuania”.
