Spain’s three major broadcasters RTVE, Atresmedia and Mediaset are to launch LOVEStv, a joint HbbTV-based FTA platform to counter Netflix and HBO.
The new service is due to start in its test phase on June 14. LOVEStv will use HbbTV technology and offer a host of features including catch-up from the past seven days, re-start a programme that has already begun and and improved EPG. More features to be added at a later date.
The new service will be made available free of charge to all viewers, who will need to have an HbbTV compatible receiver that is connected to broadband. Viewers will be able to personalise the service in order to receive recommendations.
