Slovakia’s national transmission company Towercom has launched an HbbTV service on DVB-T2.
According to Medialne, it is being operated in partnership with TV Joj and includes a seven-day archive, along with timeshift features.
Although the archive at this stage contains only content from Joj, it will shortly also include some from the public broadcaster RTVS.
Towercom’s hybrid TV service is complemented by a weather app and other features and content are expected to be added in the future.
Ivan Peschel, Towercom’s CEO, said that the company’s long-term goal was to support the DTT platform and make the services delivered through it more user friendly.
Meanwhile, Andrej Dolezal, director of distribution and non-linear services, Joj Group, said that terrestrial distribution for Joj remains a priority and so any upgrades and improvement to offers are welcome.
