Dutch cable operator Ziggo, jointly owned by Vodafone and Liberty Global, will be offering three additional Eurosport channels during this year’s Winter Olympic Games in Pyeong Chang from February 9-25, 2018.
The three event channnels will be called Eurosport 3, Eurosport 4 and Eurosport 5, and will be available to all basic cable subscribers. The channels are exclusive to Ziggo subscribers, and are not available on any other platform in the Netherlands. In addition, Eurosport 2 will temporarily moved from extended tier to basic.
All Ziggo subscribers will also be able to view the full bouquet of Eurosport channels on the TV Everywehere app Ziggo Go.
The Ziggo offer looks similar to the deal Liberty Global’s German cabler Unitymedia brokered with Discovery Networks, which also sees increased availability of Eursport’s Olympic coverage.
Meanwhile Eurosport Player is also offering a special cut-price deal for the Winter Olympics PyeongChang 2018 – new subscribers can access the OTT service at special prices for the month of February, with different offers for the various European countries.
UPDATE. Telenet in Belgium also obtained the exclusive rights to distribute the three Plympic channels to all of its subscribers.
