Sunrise offers new sports portfolio

December 15, 2017 10.28 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

Swiss telecommunications company Sunrise expands its sports portfolio and now offers its IPTV customers a total of 572 Bundesliga and 2nd-division Bundesliga games, plus tennis, golf and other sports highlights, all via the Sky Sport app that comes with the TV Box UHD.

Sunrise also launches Teleclub Sport Event as a pay-per-view (PPV) service on the TV Box UHD, enabling customers to view individual sports events of their choice, for example exclusive Super League games, European football league games and National Hockey League games.

Since August 2017, Sunrise customers have been able to watch the Sky Sport offer through the Sky Sport app on numerous mobile devices. With the new Sky Sport app installed on the Sunrise TV Box UHD as of December 15, 2017, they now have direct access to the Bundesliga games on their TV sets via Sky Sport. This allows customers to watch Sky Sport events at home on Sunrise TV as well as on their smartphones, tablets or other mobile devices when they are on the go.

Sky Sport is the only provider in Switzerland offering 572 Bundesliga and 2nd-division Bundesliga games per season. Additionally, the Sky Sport offer includes the UEFA Champions League, tennis, golf, ice hockey, basketball and handball.

Sky Sport is available as a monthly streaming service for CHF19.90 per month or as a day pass for CHF9.90 per day. Sunrise customers who are not Sky Sport customers yet and sign up for Sky Sport via Sunrise TV between now and March 31, 2018 will receive Sky Sport free of charge for six months. The app is only available on the latest, UHD-capable Sunrise TV Box.

Starting mid-December 2017, all Sunrise TV customers will also be able to watch Teleclub Sport Event highlights on-demand via their TV Box UHD. This gives them access to a wide range of live sports events even without a subscription.

All Super League games and other events are available as pay-per-view (PPV), including studio commentary for each live game as well as the Alle Spiele, alle Tore (all games, all goals) summary following the event.

All games of the Serie A, the DFB Cup (via Sky), the UEFA Champions League (via Sky), the UEFA Europa League (via Sky), and selected games of the Ligue 1, the TIM Cup, the Copa del Rey and other international football leagues can also be viewed as PPV.

An extensive ice hockey portfolio with the Champions Hockey League, the National Hockey League, the Swiss Ice Hockey Cup and the IIHF Ice Hockey World championship is also available to customers as PPV.

Sunrise bills for the service monthly. Each PPV event incurs a charge of CHF5.00 on the customer’s bill, with the exception of golf events billed at CHF7.50 per event.
