Discovery Channel has launched on OTT platform Amazon Channels in Germany and Austria.
Amazon Prime customers can receive the pay-TV channel as a live-stream in HD quality and access on-demand content from the areas of adventure, science and technology. Sister channel Animal Planet contributes several hundred hours of documentaries and series covering the animal world.
The service can be accessed through the Prime Video app on smart TV sets, smartphones and tablets (iOS/Android), Amazon Fire TV, Fire TV Stick and Fire tablets as well as directly on the web.
Discovery Channel costs €3.99 per month – in addition to the Amazon Prime membership for €69 per year; the subscription can be cancelled monthly.
In the UK, Discovery Channel has been part of the Amazon Channels line-up since its launch in May 2017.
Following the Eurosport Player added in August 2017, Discovery Channel is the second service Discovery Networks Deutschland offers on Amazon Channels in Germany and Austria.
