OTT platform Knippr launches Chinese pack

September 15, 2017 11.03 Europe/London By Robert Briel

T-Mobile Dutch OTT platform Knippr has launched a Chinese pack of channels retailing at EUR10.

Knippr has partnered with Huawei to offer premium Chinese channels on a-la-carte basis

The pack comprises 13 channels, CNTV General, CNTV Finance, CGTN, CCTV4 International, Beijing TV, Hong Kong TV, Hunan TV, Xiamen TV, Star TV, Dragon TV, Boutique Drama Channel, Entertainment Channel and Cartoon Channe

The Chinese channels are available for both live TV and Replay with Knippr for play-out on a variety of devices in The Netherlands. The Electronic Program Guide of these channels also supports the Chinese language.

“Adding Chinese channels to our Dutch a-la-carte television service is another great example illustrating the unique flexibility of our innovative service”, says Johan Trouwborst, Head of Knippr.

“By partnering with Huawei, we not only can address the Chinese population, but we also showcase the limitless possibilities with an online TV service like KNIPPR.”

Wonder Wang, CEO Huawei Netherlands, says: “We are delighted to collaborate with T-Mobile Netherlands and expand our business in the Dutch TV market. Through employing Huawei Content as a Service, T-Mobile can expand its Knippr offering and address the Chinese population in the Netherlands.”

Due to Dutch media regulations, the Chinese Mix cannot be sold as a stand-alone product, as Knippr has to offer a basic Dutch channel package as the entry-level tier.

T-Mobile launched Knippr in June 2016.
