Registration open for 4K 4Charity Fun Run

July 13, 2017 10.04 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Registration is open for this year’s 4K 4Charity Fun Run.

Taking place during IBC 2017 in Amsterdam, the AWS Elemental event will begin at 7.30am and take participants on a four kilometre course around the historical Amstelpark.

Proceeds from the event will go to Heifer International, which links communities and helps bring sustainable agriculture and commerce to areas with a long history of poverty, and local non-profit Stichting NewTechKids, an Amsterdam-based foundation dedicated to developing computer science education for primary school children ages four to 12.

“We’re pleased to support the 4K 4Charity Fun Run and honoured to help our industry community build awareness and raise funds for the vital cause of diversity and inclusion,” said Mike Crimp, chief executive officer, IBC. “The fun run has established itself as an IBC tradition and a can’t-miss opportunity for individuals and companies to celebrate our industry, enjoy the beauty of Amsterdam and share their good fortune with worthy non-profit beneficiaries.”

Since the inaugural 4K 4Charity Fun Run event took place at IBC in 2014, the series has raised more than $450,000 and attracted nearly 4,000 participants.

“IBC is where the 4K 4Charity Fun Run Series began and each year, the people and companies who participate make this event an incredibly fun and rewarding experience for all,” said Laura Barber of AWS Elemental and co-founder of the series. “As our industry recognizes the need—and seizes the opportunity—to expand its support for diversity and inclusion initiatives, we’re grateful for the generosity of IBC, our participants and sponsors who come together to support the important work of Heifer International and Stichting NewTechKids.”

Sponsors for the 4K 4Charity Fun Run at IBC 2017 include Aspera, AWS Elemental, ABOX42, Dolby Laboratories, Verimatrix, Brightcove, Conviva, Irdeto, Vizrt, ChyronHego, SVG Europe and IBC.
