German cable operator Primacom will change the allocation of the slots on its digital TV channel listing from April 4, 2017.
All channels will remain available, but some will be moved to new positions. Following the adjustments, the viewers’ digital reception devices will automatically find the channels again in most cases. If not, viewers are advised to perform a channel search.
With the changes, Primacom complies with the listings specifications of the media authorities and also creates a customer-friendly, clearly arranged ranking, states the company.
According to Primacom, the current shape of the listing is the result of the developments in the TV market in the past years, for example new channel launches, closures and transitions from pay-TV to free-TV. The new sorting is based on criteria such as reach, signal format (SD/HD) or genre.
The media authorities’ licencing and supervision commission ZAK criticised in September 2015 that the order of the channels does not comply with the allocation scheme of the media law and leads to unequal treatment of the offers.
