The leading Czech and Slovak DTH platform Skylink expects to sell around 20,000 hybrid receivers this year.
Speaking to Parabola, M7 board member Jaromir Glisnik added that Skylink has a 12-month exclusivity contract for its Samsung EVO-S box and that receivers from other manufacturers can be made available from late 2017.
He also said demand for the platform’s OTT service Skylink Live TV, which is in test mode and provides only a limited number of channels, has been extremely high as it is still being provided free of charge.
As previously reported by Broadband TV News, around 60,000 customers were already using Skylink Live TV in early December 2016, three months after its launch.
Glisnik also said that Skylink gained nearly 60,000 newly activated cards in the Czech Republic and Slovakia in 2016, or around 20% more than the previous year.
It surpassed 600,000 subscribers to pay-TV packages last autumn, with the number growing by 15%.
While in previous years most new customers opted for the Digital package, in 2016 they opted for paid packages.
