Canal Digital Norway has announced plans to allow consumers to purchase its broadband service without also subscribing to a television package.
It follows pressure from the consumer ombudsman who claimed the practice by Canal Digital and rival Get was in breach of Norway’s marketing act.
The new structure, announced in a press briefing in Oslo, will come into force on December 7, the same date as Canal Digital is planning a relaunch of its TV service.
From the beginning of December, Telenor will begin an upgrade to its T-We-box, which will add streaming services from Netflix and public broadcaster NRK.
There will also be new T-We apps for the mobile and tablet that can be used both in and out of home.
A new menu will also introduce a stronger focus on content.
